This 60 year old facility located in the desert Tuscon, Arizona which stretches across 2600 acres (the size of 1300 football pitches) is the final resting place for thousands of decommissioned machines.The facility, originally formed in 1946 is also being used as spare parts resource for US military.

Apart from various individual parts such as wings,cabins and undercarriages the facility also holds more than $35 Billion (£22.6 billion) worth of western world’s air crafts, that were at one time in history the most feared and advanced weapons of air combat. Some worthwhile mentions are B-52’s, Tomcats and the A-10 tank busters.Most of the air craft are stationed there with a hope of being restored and get back to full service again.

The landscape has grabbed the attention of Hollywood from time to time and movies such as Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen had some of their scenes shot in this facility.Thanks to Google earth, the stunning high resolution images of the ‘Boneyard’ have been produced. The view from the sky would definitely scare the crap out of our would-be Alien overlords.

Cisco systems has unveiled a new Internet technology it says will pave way for the next generation of high speed Internet connectivity. The “CRS-3″ network routing architecture will allow down-link speeds of up to 322 terabits per second according to the company in an announcement on Tuesday.

Cisco chief Executive John Chambers noted that many sceptics will claim that such fast speeds are not necessary but argued that the need of high definition media on IPTV and mobile phones will ultimately demand it. “I know that this is not that exciting to the average consumer right now, but it is the foundation for future speeds” Chambers said during the announcement on Tuesday.

The announcement has been welcomed by Google which is also in the process of developing a high speed broadband network. With 12 times the traffic capacity of the nearing competing system, the CRS-3 “designed to transform the broadband communication and entertainment industry by accelerating the delivery of compelling new experiences for consumers, new revenue opportunities for service providers, and new ways to collaborate in the workplace,” the company said.

Analyst predict the routing technology will be initially available for data centers and network carrier providers with the initiative to encompass homes as well.

Apple has tightened its limits on the availability of  sexy or objectionable apps for its iTunes app store and many (but not all) , including some of the most popular apps have been removed while others will face the same fate in due time.

The move came as a surprise to developer who had been profiting from programs such as SlideHer, a puzzle that challenged the users to reassemble the photo of a bikini clad actress. Other apps such as Scratch away and Wooble, which used to be in the most demanded section of the app store  have been hard hit by this decision.

In an interview to New york Times, Philip W. Schiller, head of worldwide product marketing at Apple explained that a small group of developers had been submitting  “an increasing number of apps containing very objectionable content.” Also, Apple had been receiving an ever increasing number of complaints from customers recently on the availability of  such content in the app store. Philip further said “It came to the point where we were getting customer complaints from women who found the content getting too degrading and objectionable, as well as parents who were upset with what their kids were able to see”.

Analysts are viewing this act as a preemptive measure from Apple to restore and keep the faith of its customers. With the Ipad due to be out next month, Apple is hoping it will be  a hit among families and as an educational tools for young school children.

It must be noted however that the screening process being followed by Apple is partial to well established developers such Sports Illustrated and Playboy whose apps are still available for the users. Apple says “The difference is this is a well-known company with previously published material available broadly in a well-accepted format” .

Google has released a Public Data Explorer in its Labs beta site that offers a visual output of large data sets in the form of animated charts and maps over time. The platform takes public data regarding schools, crime, and population to construct graphs that help to illustrate trends. In Google’s blog today it announced that there are already billions of possible charts to explore with the current data sets provided by the World Bank, US Bureau of Labour Statistics and the US Census bureau.

As part of the Public Data Explorer initiative, Google used search information to determine the types of public data most sought after by users.

“To help us better prioritize which data sets to include in our public data search feature, we’ve analyzed anonymous search logs to find patterns in the kinds of searches people are doing, similar to the patterns you can find on Google Trends and Insights for Search,” Jurgen Schwarzler, a statistician with Google’s Public Data team wrote on the Official Google Blog.

Since Bing’s partnership with Wolfram Alpha, that incorporates public data into charts and graphs for Microsoft’s search engine, Google has been pushing hard for its own number crunching platform that can be leveraged by researchers and students alike.

Twitter has reached the milestone of 10 billion tweets which underlines the fast growth and popularity of the micro-blogging site that was launched in November 2008 according to the tweet counter GigaTweet . According to twitter’s meteoric data, London is the city with the highest number of Twitter users in the world.

Twitter’s fast growth has still not rescued the platform from high downtime and an unprofitable business model. The company registered some fresh needed operating cash when it inked a deal with Google and Microsoft’s Bing to display tweets in search engine result pages.

Twitter’s numbers are however relatively small compared to the amount of traffic that popular platforms such as YouTube and Facebook are getting. Instant messenger services such as Windows Live Messenger runs around 10bn “tweets” per day.

North Korea has developed its own operating system based on the Linux Kernel. The “Red Star” operating system has been under development since 2006. According to a blog by a Russian university student identified as Mikhail, the operating system is known as Red Star and is on sale for $5 in both server and client versions.

The Red Star operating system requires a minimum of 800 MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM. Red Star’s default applications include Open Office and Pigeon IM along with other utilities. It has however been reported that the operating system comes with a default North Korean firewall application called Pyongyang Fortress and an antivirus software called Woodpecker.

After twos days of PlayStation 3 fan boys overwhelming Sony’s support lines crying
over their broken PS3 console units, it looks like Sony has tracked down
and resolved the cause of the network glitch.

The electronic giant wasted no
time responding the potential PR disaster having just witnessed what the
Japanese car maker Toyota just went through. Sony is however not saying precisely
what caused the glitch and how they resolved it.

On the official Sony PS3 blog, Sony
stated : ” We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3
units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year.
Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT),
we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able
to use their PS3 normally. If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect,
users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the Internet. If we
have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or
PlayStation.com “.

Meanwhile, others have seen the funny side
of this whole thing. Spin off videos are already in the viral sphere on platforms
such as YouTube depicting Adolfs take on this glitch.

HTC appeared to be taken by suprise by the move and declined to comment until it had time to study the details of the complaint. Apple has sold 40 million iPhones since it launched their handset in 2007 but analyst have argued that its rivals such as HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson, have developed products that may knock the smartphone of its pedestal.

At this year’s Mobile World Congress, HTC introduced the world’s fastest smartphone — the HTC Desire which built on technology from the Google Nexus One — as well as a new handset called the HTC Legend, which is cased in a sleek aluminium skin. The Legend impressed analysts, who suggested that HTC might have stolen a march on Apple’s plans for a new iPhone.

The new Google phone codenamed “Nexus One” is described as a phone to wait for because it will change the course of phones once and forever. It has a blazing fast 1Ghz cpu with 512 Mb ram, Hell ! those were the specs of full sized computers some years back. Now all the technology is packed in a sexy and sleek casing which can easily fit in your hand.

Nexus One was given to the employees of Google for testing and their expressions were tweeted, God knows, I badly want to do job at Google. Whole world saw it and now Google phone has got many admirers.

The expected US release date of the phone is in Q1 2010 (April).
