1. Its Google’s second attempt
Google Wave is not google’s first attempt to enter social media. Orkut was the first project that turned out to be unsuccessful as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter gave it severe competition, so now the Google is back with some very innovative and new ideas.

Google Wave is completely an Open Source project. Its source code will be released to the developers, it will help Google to gather the support of developers worldwide.

Google Wave was released to about 100,000 users on September 30, 2009 on a trial basis. It is in beta, development work is in progress.
4. Anyone can Edit !
The concept of Google Wave is that everyone can edit anything anyway they like, which means chats, drafts, party plans and every other thing will be editable. Google provides a playback option which shows who edited what and when. In other words “Everyone will ride the Wave”.
5. Its written in Java
Google Wave code has been written in Java, utilizing its Open JDK.
6. Google aims to replace e-mails by Wave
Google terms Wave as next generation communication network and really hopes that Google wave will replace e-mails in the days to come.
